Seville, Spain

When many people think of Spain, their minds go to Barcelona or Madrid, the most well-known cities and major travel destinations. Seville, Spain, is a hidden gem, often overlooked as a place to visit and experience Spanish culture. Seville was once the largest city in Spain, a historic cultural hub. The city’s architecture is unlike any other.  Famed architect Aníbal González used regionalism style to add a modern twist to historical styles like Mudéjar, Baroque, and Gothic for famous buildings in Seville.

Seville has over 300 days of sunshine a year and paired with architecture that seems otherworldly; directors and filmmakers from around the world are drawn to the city. “The Palace of the Kingdom of Naboo” from Star Wars and the “Palace of the Kingdom of Dorne” from Game of Thrones are both real-life palaces in Seville, Spain.

Besides its architecture, Seville is known for its culture.  This city is the tapas capital of the world. Instead of going out to dinner, you go out to get tapas. Tapas are small dishes that typically are ordered alongside a drink, preferably Sangria, at a bar. Unlike an appetizer, you eat tapas until you’re full.  Once you've had your fill of tapas you can watch a flamenco show, a traditional entertainment style combining guitars, singing, and dancing.
